Stars Fading Fast

The Stars boat is sinking quickly.

It’s losing momentum, confidence, players and games. It’s losing ground in the standings, too.

After a 4-1 loss last night to the last place (in the whole LEAGUE) Edmonton Oilers, the Stars have fallen to 5th in the Western Conference, just two points ahead of 8th place Calgary and three points ahead of the LA Kings.

Basically, the Stars need to pull it together, and fast.

Tonight they play the aforementioned Calgary Flames, a team that is 7-1-2 in its last 10 games and is looking to make a push towards the top of the standings to secure a playoff spot.

Meanwhile, the Stars are 2-7-1 in their last 10 games, and they’ll play tonight’s game without Brad Richards or Nicklas Grossman, two players who are proving their worth exponentially by not being in the lineup.

Is all hope lost? No, not yet. There’s still plenty of time to get back on track and make the playoffs.

But in a race this tight, I’d rather not leave anything to chance.

So Stars, let’s pull it together eh?
